Growing sports technology startup Prevent Biometrics today announced its headquarters move to new office space at 4530 West 77th Street, in Edina, MN. The approximately 8500 square foot space will house Prevent’s growing staff, as well as the Prevent Impact Dynamics Lab, a testing facility for the company’s Impact Monitor Mouthguard.

The Prevent office is located in a renovated building in Pentagon Park, an office park owned by Hillcrest Development. The third-floor space was previously unoccupied and Prevent built out the office to its specifications. Glass walled private offices line the inside of the space, with open concept workstations and collaborative seating areas located along the north facing windows.

“We are rapidly adding staff as our head impact monitoring technology goes to market for the first time,” said Steve Washburn, Prevent’s co-founder and CEO. “This new office will give us room to expand our engineering, operations, sales, marketing and administrative teams. We wanted a modern, bright space, that encourages collaboration and innovation,” Washburn said.

A unique feature of the Prevent office is the 675sf lab space, to be outfitted with workbenches and a linear impactor, for simulating the high-speed head impacts common in football, ice hockey and other sports. The lab will allow Prevent scientists and engineers to validate the performance of its device, and future generations, at measuring different kinds of head impacts. A data station within the lab allows visitors to observe testing from a safe distance, and see live results read on video monitors.

Tanek Architecture designed the office space with Prevent, and Edina-based Sever Construction managed the build out.
